Federico Gatti’s star continues to rise at Juventus with the defender now set to renew his contract. In his third season with the Bianconeri, the 25-year-old defender from Rivoli has already worn the captain’s armband in the first three matches of the season. This gesture signifies the immense trust that manager Thiago Motta has placed in him, following the confidence shown by previous coach Massimiliano Allegri.
Under Allegri’s guidance, Gatti made his Serie A debut, amassing 63 appearances and scoring 3 goals. The fact that two managers with such contrasting philosophies and approaches have entrusted Gatti with significant responsibilities, a starting position, and even the captain’s armband, is a testament to his established place in top-flight football. This achievement is particularly remarkable considering Gatti’s journey through the lower leagues, having played in Promozione, Eccellenza, Serie D, Serie C, and Serie B before making the leap to Serie A in 2022. Gatti’s current contract with Juventus runs until 2028, having been renewed in October 2023. According to reports from Tuttosport (via Calciomercato), the club is now preparing to offer him a further extension until 2029. The aim is to finalize this new agreement within the month.
During the summer transfer window, Gatti attracted interest from Newcastle United, who reportedly offered €25 million for his services. However, Thiago Motta was adamant about retaining the defender, seeing him as an integral part of both Juventus’ present and future.
