Juventus Revives Interest in Lloyd Kelly: Negotiations with Newcastle Underway

Start

Juventus are on the search for defensive reinforcements, with Lloyd Kelly emerging as a potential alternative to their primary target, Fikayo Tomori. Sky Sport Italia report that the Bianconeri have initiated contact with Newcastle United regarding the 26-year-old English defender, signaling a renewed interest in a player they previously pursued.

Kelly, who joined Newcastle on a free transfer from Bournemouth last summer, has struggled to secure regular playing time at St. James’ Park this season. The versatile left-footed defender has made only nine Premier League appearances, with just four starts.

Juventus have reportedly tabled an initial offer of €13 million for Kelly, but Newcastle values the player between €15-20 million. The Magpies are only interested in a permanent transfer to realize a significant profit on their investment. This asking price is notably lower than Milan’s valuation of Tomori, making Kelly an attractive alternative for the Turin giants.

Standing at 190 cm, Kelly offers versatility to Juventus’ backline. Primarily a center-back, he can also operate as a left-back, potentially filling the void left by the injured Juan Cabal. His adaptability and left-footed profile make him an intriguing prospect for Massimiliano Allegri’s squad.

Despite limited opportunities at Newcastle this season, Kelly has shown glimpses of his potential, providing an assist against Tottenham in one of his Premier League outings. He has also featured in three Carabao Cup matches and one FA Cup game.
