Juventus are making significant strides in their pursuit of Jean-Claire Todibo from Nice, as they aim to bolster their defensive lineup under new manager Thiago Motta. Following the recent acquisition of Juan Cabal, Juventus’ sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has now set his sights firmly on Todibo as the next key addition to the squad.
According to recent reports from RMC Sport, Juventus have already secured the player’s agreement on personal terms. Todibo is reportedly ready to commit to a contract until 2029, with an expected annual salary of around €2 million net. This development marks a crucial step forward in Juventus’ efforts to outmaneuver competition from West Ham, who had previously reached an agreement with Nice for a €37 million transfer fee.
Despite West Ham’s financial offer, Todibo is said to prefer a move to Turin. However, Juventus has yet to formally begin negotiations with Nice. The Italian giants are looking to invest significantly less than West Ham’s offer, with their initial strategy revolving around a bid of approximately €20 million plus bonuses, structured as a loan with an obligation to buy.
Before finalizing any move for Todibo, Juventus needs to address outgoing transfers. The club is working on offloading several players deemed surplus to requirements by Giuntoli and Motta. Among those who might depart is Daniele Rugani, who has attracted interest from Saudi Arabian clubs and more recently, Bologna.
Todibo, a 24-year-old center-back, has been with Nice since the summer of 2021, where he has successfully revitalized his career after a disappointing spell at Barcelona. Last season, under the guidance of Francesco Farioli, Todibo made 33 appearances across all competitions, cementing his status as one of the most promising defenders in Ligue 1.
