Juventus reach agreement in principle with Thiago Motta

Start

Calciomercato report that Juventus have reached an agreement in principle with Bologna manager Thiago Motta. The Bianconeri look set to replace Max Allegri after a disappointing season that’s seen them slip out of the title race, and now face a battle for a top-four finish.

Calciomercato journalist Daniele Longo reports that barring any sensational twists, Allegri will conclude his tenure as the Bianconeri’s manager at the end of the season. Club director Cristiano Giuntoli aims to kickstart the new era with a coach who impresses with tactical ideas and youth development, and Thiago Motta fits the bill.

Contacts between Giuntoli and Thiago Motta’s entourage have been ongoing for several weeks, culminating in a breakthrough: there’s already a preliminary agreement between the parties. The current Bologna manager, known for his tactical acumen and knack for nurturing young talents, is also on the radar of AC Milan and foreign clubs. However, he has verbally committed to Juventus. Alongside Motta, both Riccardo Calafiori and Lewis Ferguson could join the Bianconeri ranks.
