Juventus prepare first bid for Atalanta midfielder Koopmeiners

Start

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are gearing up for a decisive move to secure Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners. The Dutch international has emerged as a top target for new manager Thiago Motta, who sees him as the final piece to complete Juventus’ midfield renovation.

Having already secured deals for Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa and Khephren Thuram from Nice, the Bianconeri management is now focusing their efforts on bringing Koopmeiners to Turin. The 26-year-old midfielder is known for his attacking prowess and ability to make late runs into the box, as evidenced by his impressive tally of 15 goals last season across Serie A and Coppa Italia competitions.

Juventus’ strategy to land Koopmeiners is taking shape, with optimism growing within the club. The player’s absence from Euro 2024 due to injury may work in Juventus’ favor. While Atalanta values Koopmeiners at €60 million, the expected offers from Premier League clubs have not materialized, potentially strengthening Juventus’ position in negotiations.

Furthermore, Juventus has already reached a preliminary agreement with Koopmeiners’ agent, Bart Baving, for a contract worth €4 million per season plus bonuses. This personal terms agreement puts Juventus in a favorable position, with the final hurdle being to convince Atalanta to sell.

As Juventus prepares for the upcoming season under Thiago Motta’s leadership, the addition of Koopmeiners could provide the creative spark and goal-scoring threat from midfield that the team has been seeking. The coming days will be crucial as Juventus attempts to finalize this significant transfer and complete their midfield overhaul.
