Juventus pair set for Aston Villa medicals ahead of Douglas Luiz transfer

Start

Juventus players Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea are scheduled to undergo medical examinations with Aston Villa within the next 24 hours, marking a significant step in the transfer of Douglas Luiz to the Italian club.

Cristiano Giuntoli, Juventus’ sporting director, quickly identified the 26-year-old Brazilian midfielder as the ideal candidate to strengthen Thiago Motta’s squad this summer. Negotiations with Aston Villa progressed smoothly, with the English club willing to sell due to Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules.

The deal structure involves Juventus paying approximately €28 million, with Iling-Junior and Barrenechea included as part of the transfer. Juventus will retain a 10% future resale clause on both players.

Douglas Luiz is expected to be the first of several midfield acquisitions for Juventus this summer, with the club also expressing interest in Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners and Nice’s Khephren Thuram.

Iling-Junior is set to complete his medical examination with Aston Villa in the coming hours, followed by Barrenechea tomorrow. These procedures will bring the transfer of Douglas Luiz closer to completion.

The Brazilian midfielder, currently participating in the Copa America with his national team, will undergo his pre-transfer medical examinations in the United States before finalizing his contract with Juventus.
