Nico Gonzalez will not be responding to the call-up from the Argentina national team. The Juventus winger, who had been included in Lionel Scaloni’s squad for the upcoming international fixtures, will stay in Turin to continue his recovery from an injury that has sidelined him for over a month.
Scaloni had initially included Gonzalez in the list of players expected to participate in the two 2026 World Cup qualification matches against Paraguay and Peru. However, according to reports from TyC Sports, Gonzalez will remain in Italy to continue treatment for a right thigh rectus femoris injury sustained during the match against Leipzig on October 2.
Given this development, it seems unlikely that Gonzalez will be available for selection in the upcoming derby against Torino on Saturday, November 9. His return to action is now more likely to occur after the international break, with Juventus facing Milan on November 23 and Aston Villa on November 27.
The other Italy-based players called up for Argentina include Lautaro Martinez (Inter), Leandro Paredes (Roma), Nico Paz (Como), and Valentin Castellanos (Lazio).
