Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli met with Monza’s Adriano Galliani yesterday to discuss a potential transfer for goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio. This news comes courtesy of TuttoSport (via TMW), who report that the two executives discussed a potential switch for Di Gregorio to Juventus.
The Monza goalkeeper who has long been on the radar of the Bianconeri management and has been identified as the perfect successor to Wojciech Szczesny, the Polish goalkeeper who has another year left on his contract worth €6.5 million and shows no inclination to renegotiate his salary.
According to reports, Di Gregorio turned down an offer from Newcastle in January. His market value is estimated at €20 million, and Juventus’s plan is to bring him to Turin immediately, have him shadow Szczesny for a year, and then promote him to the starting lineup. This plan aligns with the desire of Mattia Perin, whose contract as a goalkeeper is expiring, to seek a new opportunity as a starter.
Following promising initial negotiations with the player’s representatives, Juventus have now openly engaged with Galliani. In the past, Monza had shown interest in Fabio Miretti, and there may be further discussions on this matter in due course. Additionally, it’s not out of the question that talks could extend to Andrea Colpani, a midfielder who has impressed with eight goals and four assists, possessing offensive qualities that Juventus’s midfield currently lacks.
