The upcoming Milan-Juventus match will be special for Pierre Kalulu, who moved to Juventus this summer after four seasons with Milan. Despite the transfer being a loan with an option to buy, the relationship between Kalulu and Milan seems to have come to an end, according to his brother Aldo, a striker for Partizan.
Aldo Kalulu, Pierre’s older brother, shared insights about the defender’s feelings in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport just hours before the big match at San Siro. For Kalulu, it’s a special return to Milan: “I asked him if he could play against Milan because when you’re on loan, sometimes the contract states you can’t play against the team that holds your registration. I was afraid they wouldn’t let him play, but he said yes and I’m happy. He wants to show Milan that they made a mistake in letting him go.”
Pierre reportedly didn’t want to leave Milan. Aldo is certain of this and describes the sadness and disappointment his brother felt during the summer negotiations between Milan and Juventus: “At first he was sad because he didn’t want to leave Milan and because he understood that the club didn’t want him anymore. He spoke with Zlatan, with whom he also played: he was annoyed. Moreover, the first contact was between Milan and Juve, then the Bianconeri called Pierre. He was surprised – Milan explained to him that it was a solution that would allow him to play more. He was disappointed by Milan’s behavior, where he was always treated well and signed his first serious contract.”
Thiago Motta played a crucial role in convincing Kalulu to join Juventus. Aldo reveals: “The call? Thiago Motta was on the phone. That call made the difference. He told him they needed him, that he was a very strong player and even if he had injuries, he wanted him there. It was the perfect start to this story. You can’t say no to Juventus. Pierre did good things at Milan, he liked the team, the city, but when they tell you they don’t want you anymore, you have to go.”
When asked if the Milan chapter is closed, Aldo responded firmly: “Yes. He’s on loan, but it’s hard to imagine a future in Milan. He doesn’t expect anything from Milan and Milan shouldn’t expect anything from him. It’s a finished story.”
