Juventus in turmoil: Danilo’s unexpected solo training and Giuntoli’s request to Napoli

Start

The Juventus-Danilo saga has taken a dramatic turn, with the Brazilian defender likely to leave Turin by the end of January after five and a half years with the club. Thiago Motta has long since shown Danilo the door, and Sporting Director Cristiano Giuntoli is eager to offload part of the player’s €4 million salary. However, they didn’t account for Danilo’s own wishes.

Realizing his future at Juventus was over, Calciomercato report how Danilo set his sights on Napoli, where Antonio Conte has placed him at the top of his wishlist. The stumbling block remains the same as last month: Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis refuses to pay Juventus any compensation. The Old Lady is demanding €3 million to release Danilo, but Napoli is only willing to welcome the defender without any transfer fee, given that his contract expires in six months.

This standoff is expected to continue, with both clubs set to resume talks in the coming days. However, a significant gap remains between their positions.

Danilo, who was not called up for the Italian Super Cup in Saudi Arabia, was surprised to find himself training alone upon his return. According to Corriere di Torino, on Monday evening, while still resting like his teammates, Danilo believed he would rejoin group training on Tuesday. Instead, he found himself “exiled” like any other surplus player.
