Tuttosport report that Juventus have entered into talks for the transfer of Genoa and Italy striker Mateo Retegui. With an eye on fortifying their attacking options for the upcoming 2024-25 season, Juventus has set their sights on securing the services of 24-year-old Retegui. The Bianconeri view him as an ideal addition who could not only provide competition for current frontline star Dusan Vlahovic but potentially even replace him should a lucrative offer come in for the Serbian international.
Tuttosport claim that Initial talks between Juventus and Retegui’s agents have commenced, though negotiations remain in the preliminary stages.
Retegui, who made a €12 million switch from Tigre to Genoa last summer, has displayed promising form in Serie A, tallying six goals in 23 appearances this season. His current contract with Genoa runs until June 2028.
Beyond his club performances, Retegui has made a significant impact on the international stage with Italy. Despite being born in Argentina, he has donned the Azzurri colors admirably, notching four goals in just six appearances. His international debut came in March 2023, where he found the net in a 2-1 defeat against England at the Stadio Maradona in Naples.
