Juventus face setback as Nice accept West Ham’s offer for Todibo

Start

Juventus are at risk of losing out on Jean-Clair Todibo, as Nice has accepted a €40 million offer from West Ham. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, West Ham’s director, Tim Steidten, has travelled to France to finalize the agreement with Nice and is working to schedule Todibo‘s medical examinations for this Friday.

Juventus, however, remains hopeful that Todibo will reject West Ham’s advances. The Italian club had previously reached a verbal agreement with Todibo for a five-year contract worth €2.5 million net per year until June 2029. Juventus has been negotiating a loan deal with an option or obligation to buy, while West Ham’s offer is for a permanent transfer, a preference for Nice.

To accommodate a new central defender, Juventus are attempting to offload Tiago Djaló to Genoa and Porto, and is negotiating Daniele Rugani’s transfer to Ajax. Rugani’s former coach, Farioli, who managed Todibo last season, is now inclined to accept West Ham’s proposal. Should Todibo choose West Ham, Juventus will need to shift their focus to alternative targets.

Todibo, a former Barcelona player born in 1999, is under contract with Nice until June 2027. Earlier in the summer, he was nearly transferred to Manchester United, but the deal was canceled due to FIFA regulations on multi-club ownership, as Jim Ratcliffe of Ineos holds stakes in both clubs. Manchester United subsequently signed Leny Yoro from Lille for €62 million, diverting their attention from Todibo.
