Juventus eyeing Patrick Wimmer as sttacking reinforcement

Start

Tuttosport report that Juventus is considering Patrick Wimmer, the Wolfsburg winger, as a potential attacking reinforcement. The 21-year-old Austrian will be in action against France, providing Thiago Motta an opportunity to assess him closely.

The newspaper detail how Wimmer is not a new name for Motta, as the Juventus coach had already evaluated the player during his time at Bologna last summer. However, Wimmer’s 2022/23 campaign was disrupted by a syndesmotic ligament injury in his ankle, keeping him sidelined for four months.

Motta’s previous interest in Wimmer stems from his time at Bologna, where he had considered signing the Austrian winger. Motta’s familiarity with Wimmer’s abilities could potentially play a role in Juventus’ pursuit of the player.

Despite his injury setback, Wimmer’s performances have caught the attention of several clubs across Europe. In Germany, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund are monitoring his situation, while in Italy, Fiorentina has also expressed interest. Additionally, Lyon from Ligue 1 has made concrete moves to acquire the winger.

Wolfsburg’s valuation of Wimmer stands at €15 million, but Juventus is exploring the possibility of a loan deal with an option or obligation to buy, contingent upon specific conditions being met.
