Juventus are considering a shake-up in their attacking department, nearly three years after securing Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina. Calciomercato report that with Milik frequently sidelined and Nico Gonzalez struggling with injuries, the Bianconeri are exploring options for a backup striker.
Joshua Zirkzee, currently at Manchester United, has emerged as a potential target. The Dutch forward has struggled in the Premier League, scoring just once in 17 appearances since his €42 million move. With new manager Ruben Amorim potentially having different plans, Zirkzee could be available as early as January.
Despite his difficulties at United, Zirkee’s stock remains high. Milan had shown strong interest in the summer, but the deal fell through due to additional commission demands. Now, sources close to the player suggest he’s open to a move, feeling the pressure at Manchester United.
Juventus’ interest in Zirkzee is partly due to Thiago Motta’s presence, who successfully utilized the player’s unique skills at Bologna. At 23, Zirkzee offers a different profile to Vlahovic – a mobile center-forward comfortable with the ball at his feet, capable of playing as both a number 9 and 10.
However, Vlahovic’s future at Juventus is uncertain. His current contract, which expires in 2026, sees him earning €12 million per year. If contract renewal talks fail, Juventus might consider selling him in June.
This scenario could pave the way for Zirkzee’s arrival. Juventus might pursue a loan deal with an obligation to buy in June, aligning with their current financial strategy. After a summer of significant investments, Sporting Director Giuntoli is now seeking economical solutions.
