Juventus eye defensive reinforcements with Brazilian and Albanian targets

Start

According to recent reports from Tuttosport, Juventus are looking to bolster its defensive lineup by targeting two promising fullbacks: Brazilian right-back Yan Couto and Albanian left-back Mario Mitaj.

The Turin-based club has been active in the transfer market, having already secured Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa and reached agreements for Khephren Thuram from Nice and Michele Di Gregorio from Monza. While Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners remains a priority for the midfield, Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is also focusing on strengthening the team’s defensive options.

Currently, Danilo and Andrea Cambiaso are projected to be Juventus’ starting fullbacks for the upcoming season. However, the club is seeking capable backups for these positions. With Napoli’s Giovanni Di Lorenzo likely to stay put following Antonio Conte’s appointment, Juventus has shifted its attention to Manchester City’s Yan Couto.

Couto, 22, is set to return to Manchester City after a successful two-year loan spell at Getafe. While Juventus is interested in a potential loan deal, the English club values the Brazilian defender at €25 million. This valuation may pose a challenge for the Italian giants in their pursuit of the young talent.

On the left side of defense, Juventus is eyeing Mario Mitaj from Lokomotiv Moscow. The 20-year-old Albanian international could potentially be acquired for a more modest fee of around €12 million, making him an attractive option for the Serie A club.
