Juventus eye Antonio Silva as new defensive target

Start

Juventus are reportedly setting its sights on Antonio Silva, the talented young defender from Benfica, as a potential reinforcement for their backline. The interest in Silva has intensified following the injury to Bremer, which has prompted the Bianconeri to reassess their defensive options.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports how Antonio Silva, born in 2003, has already made 17 appearances for the Portuguese national team, showcasing his rapid rise to prominence. The young center-back has caught the attention of Juventus scouts with his performances, although he has been on the bench for Benfica’s last three matches.

The Turin Giants are considering a strategy similar to the one used to acquire Francisco Conceição, potentially seeking a loan deal with an option to buy in the summer. This approach would allow Juventus to bolster their defense immediately while maintaining financial flexibility.

Interestingly, Silva shares the same agent as Conceição – Jorge Mendes – who has a good relationship with Juventus’ sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli. This connection could facilitate negotiations between the clubs.

Juventus see Antonio Silva as a serious option to address their defensive needs, especially in light of Bremer’s injury. The club’s management are carefully evaluating the possibility of bringing the Portuguese talent to Turin, recognizing his potential to strengthen the team’s backline for both the immediate future and long term.
