Juventus explore late transfers options for Arthur and Kostic

Start

Juventus are  still looking to offload midfielders Arthur Melo and Filip Kostic before the transfer window closes in certain markets, according to recent reports. Calciomercato detail how despite being unable to move the players during the main European transfer period, the Italian giants have not given up hope of finding new homes for the out-of-favour duo.

With the transfer windows in Turkey and Saudi Arabia remaining open until September 13 and October 6 respectively, Juventus see an opportunity to complete deals for Arthur and Kostic. Both players have been deemed surplus to requirements by manager Thiago Motta, who has made it clear they are not part of his plans for the season.

Arthur had previously been linked with a move to Napoli, but that possibility faded after the Partenopei strengthened their midfield with other signings. The Brazilian midfielder is said to be aware that his time at Juventus has come to an end.

Kostic’s situation is slightly different, as reports suggest he still harbors hope of changing Motta’s mind and earning a place in the team. However, given the manager’s reputation for firm decision-making, this seems unlikely. Juventus is particularly keen to remove Kostic’s substantial salary from their wage bill.

The club’s eagerness to move these players on is not just about streamlining the squad, but also about financial considerations. Juventus is looking to reduce their wage expenditure and potentially create room for other transfers or financial maneuvers.
