Juventus could attract Zinedine Zidane

Start

The Juventus project could attract Zinedine Zidane according to a report from French newspaper L’Equipe. The former Real Madrid coach was considered the favourite to take over the reigns of the French national team after the World Cup in Qatar but the suggestion is that Didier Deschamps will remain in charge until Euro 2024.

L’Equipe claim that Zidane had turned down other roles in favour of waiting for when the French national team coaching position was available but his plans could be put on hold for now.

Paris Saint-Germain reportedly wanted the 50-year-old to take over when Mauricio Pochettino left the club but the report claims Zizou has ‘little taste’ for the role, due to the clubs current organisation.

Zidane is not thought to be in a hurry to return to coaching as he wants to take on a challenge where he knows he would have every chance of winning, in a well-structured club and where he would have full technical powers.

L’Equipe report that Manchester United have sounded out Zidane’s agent on a number of occasions but the former midfielder doesn’t want to go to the Premier League but would be attracted to a project like Juve’s. For the moment, there are no talks underway and it’s not on the agenda, but the Frenchman did concede that he is looking to return to coaching soon.
