Juventus are expanding their search for defensive reinforcements following the season-ending injury to Juan Cabal. The Colombian defender’s first season with the Bianconeri has come to a premature end due to a severe injury sustained earlier this week. After undergoing examinations in his home country, Cabal repeated the tests at J Medical, confirming the diagnosis. He is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days.
This marks the first serious injury for the 23-year-old since turning professional, and it leaves manager Thiago Motta without his second defender after Gleison Bremer’s earlier setback.
Gazzetta dello Sport report that In response to this defensive crisis, Juventus’ sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is considering making two signings in January, preferably on loan or with favorable terms. While the club has already been linked with moves for Milan Skriniar (PSG), David Hancko (Feyenoord), Radu Dragusin (Tottenham), Jonathan Tah (Bayer Leverkusen), and Joachim Andersen (Fulham), a new name has emerged on their radar.
Benoit Badiashile of Chelsea has now entered Giuntoli’s notebook. The French defender of Congolese origin, born in Limoges in 2001, was named by UEFA as one of the 50 most promising young players for the 2019-2020 season. Before his move to Chelsea, Badiashile made 106 appearances for Monaco between 2018 and 2023. He has also progressed through the French youth national teams, making his senior debut for Les Bleus in the Nations League in 2022.
