Juventus close to signing Khephren Thuram after Douglas Luiz deal

Start

Juventus are on the verge of securing their second major signing of the summer transfer window, with Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram set to join the club following the acquisition of Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa. The deal for Thuram, son of former Juventus defender Lilian Thuram, is in its final stages. The club is working to finalize the agreement with Nice, with negotiations centered around the distribution of fixed fees and bonuses. The transfer could be completed as early as this week.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus’ sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has been tracking Thuram for some time and sees this as an opportune moment to bring the 23-year-old to Turin. The total cost of the transfer is expected to be around €20 million, with Juventus aiming to structure the deal with a fixed fee of €15-16 million and the remainder in bonuses.

Thuram is reportedly keen on the move, influenced by his father’s successful stint at Juventus and the prospect of joining his brother Marcus in Serie A. The player has already agreed to personal terms with Juventus, with a salary of around €2 million per year.

The signing of Thuram is seen as a strategic move by Juventus, especially with the uncertainty surrounding Adrien Rabiot’s future at the club. Rabiot’s contract expired on July 1, and he has yet to respond to Juventus’ offer of a new deal.

Thuram is described as a modern, dynamic midfielder with good ball progression skills and the ability to shield the defense. While not a prolific goalscorer, he is expected to complement Douglas Luiz well in Juventus’ midfield.

The club aims to have Thuram available for the start of pre-season training on July 10, as new manager Thiago Motta begins to shape his squad for the upcoming season.
