Juventus aim to secure Koopmeiners before Como clash

Start

Juventus are pushing to finalize the transfer of Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta before their Serie A opener against Como. The Dutch midfielder will not be participating in the UEFA Super Cup match against Real Madrid in Warsaw, not due to injury like some of his teammates, but because of the ongoing transfer situation. Atalanta’s coach, Gian Piero Gasperini, described Koopmeiners as a “victim” of a situation that seems orchestrated to disadvantage Atalanta.

Calciomercato report how negotiations between Juventus and Atalanta are nearing a conclusion, with a proposed deal of €50 million plus €5 million in bonuses. Juventus are eager to add Koopmeiners to their squad, providing a crucial reinforcement for Thiago Motta’s lineup. The club hopes to have him ready to play behind Dusan Vlahovic in their first official match of the season.

The timing of Juventus’s first match, scheduled for Monday, August 19, against newly-promoted Como, gives them a slight advantage in finalizing the deal. Both clubs are working to reach an agreement, with Juventus keen to fulfill a “pact” to secure Koopmeiners. The transfer would mark a significant addition to Juventus’s midfield, enhancing their prospects for the upcoming season.
