Juventus 1-0 Freiburg: Player Ratings

Start

Juventus wasted a number of chances but a bullet header from Angel Di Maria was enough to secure a vital win against Freiburg in the Europa League.

Juventus

Szczesny: Didn’t have a save to make in the first half of the match, seldom tested thereafter but got very lucky on the goal that was chalked off for the Germans. 6.0/10

Danilo: An excellent performance in the opening half, completing all his passes, tracking back and making some great interceptions and getting Juve moving forward. The best of the Juve backline 6.5/10

Bremer: Looked unpassable for the first 45′, never a foot wrong, good in the air, perfect positioning. Silly booking for a handball. 6.0/10

Sandro: Only managed the first 22 minutes before being subbed off with injury. N/A

Cuadrado: A mixed start, his distribution was hit and miss, but he forced a good save from Flekken with a wicked free-kick and had another chance in the second half.  6.0/10

Miretti: Gave the ball away too many times, but his passing was decent. 5.5/10

Locatelli: A better display than in recent weeks, good in the tackle, seemed to cover the whole pitch at times, stood up to the Freiburg midfield and looked in control. 6.5/10

Rabiot: A frustrating first half, had some well timed runs into the Freiburg box but that final touch was lacking. 6.0/10

Kostic: Got down the flanks but lacked that final defence splitting pass or cross. Made up for it in the second half with an excellent cross for Juve’s opener.  6.5/10

Di Maria: Very lively, constantly forcing fouls around the box and using his experience to force errors from Ginter. Scored a bullet header to give Juve the lead, his 4th goal in two games in the Europa League. Excellent. 7.5/10

Vlahovic: Disappointing – Had a great opportunity on the break that was too easily smothered out and his late headed effort was off target. A really frustrating night for the striker. 5.5/10

Substitutions:

Bonucci: His distribution from the back definitely made a difference after he came on but he took some unnecessary risks.. 6.0/10

Fagioli: Made an immediate impact, whipping in a great cross that Vlahovic should have capitalised on. 6.0/10

Chiesa: N/A
