Juve goalkeeper Perin “No excuses, If we are intelligent we will take this defeat in the right way”

Start

Juventus goalkeeper Mattia Perin reflected on the Bianconeri’s 3-0 loss in friendly match against FC Nuremberg. The Bianconeri slumped to their first defeat of the Thiago Motta era, and speaking with Sky Sport after the match, Perin offered no excuses for the Old Lady’s disappointing performance:

Analysis of the Match

“We must not be happy with the defeat, but we are pleased with the work done. We have worked well. The players and the coach are satisfied with the attitude and the willingness shown during training. We are assimilating new ideas and concepts during this period. If we are smart enough, we know how to take this defeat in the right way.”

Reason for the 3-0 Scoreline

“It is not in our nature to look for excuses now. We know we did an excellent job and had a beautiful preparation. We had time to be together and get to know each other. It is the first friendly match after a long time, and we need to be smart to understand what needs to be improved. There is a lot of work to do, and we can’t wait to do it.”

Changes in the Team

“Today is the sixteenth or seventeenth day of our training. The young players are integrating well; they are intelligent and eager to perform like us veterans. We have a great desire to engage, challenge ourselves, and face new changes. When you step out of your comfort zone, after a period of adaptation, you feel like a better professional and a better man. We are in the midst of that change.”

New Approach with Thiago Motta

“There is more focus on that aspect of the game. The coach does not ask for anything exceptional. He wants everyone to be available, to show themselves, to want the ball, and to have the courage and personality to play. He is not asking for the moon; if you wear this jersey, it is the minimum you can do to play for Juventus. Having great attitude, personality, and courage. Once this period of assimilating the changes is over, we will enjoy some satisfactions.”

Revolution for Goalkeepers

“We are handling it well; we are professionals and know these things can happen. We try to take it in the best way possible. I see a united group; we are all Juventus together. What we lacked today was being more of a group and a team for a long time. We had moments of blackout. Today’s defeat will help us be more consistent in working together with great attitude on the field during the match. In training, there is incredible commitment from everyone.”

New Leaders and Captains Locatelli and Vlahovic

“Every team needs some leaders. There are the veterans who have been here the longest. We need to make the newcomers and the young players understand what it means to play for Juventus and wear this jersey. The new arrivals are prepared with the knowledge of the history and culture of this club. There will be no problems.”
