Newly appointed AS Roma manager Ivan Juric held his first press conference ahead of the upcoming match against Udinese, expressing optimism about his new role and the team’s potential.
Juric, who replaced Daniele De Rossi earlier this week, began by praising the team’s recent performances: “The team with Daniele has shown in recent months that it is up to par with the others. I saw things that I liked during training.” He emphasized his belief in the squad’s ability to adapt to his high-pressing style, stating, “It will take some time but I am convinced that the team can press high and accept certain situations.”
The Croatian coach acknowledged the challenge ahead, particularly with their next opponent: “Udinese? It will be very difficult. They’ve been one of the best teams in the league so far. They’ve done very well in recent games.”
Reflecting on the significance of his appointment, Juric said, “Roma is definitely the greatest club I’ve coached, this is a great opportunity for me. I must show that I am up to it.” He also revealed that the club’s owners have set a clear objective: reaching Champions League qualification.
Juric praised De Rossi’s work, noting, “Daniele did an excellent job. The team is in a very good physical shape. They gave everything under Daniele and soon as I came in I was impressed with the state of the team.”
Discussing specific players, Juric expressed excitement about working with Paulo Dybala: “Dybala is intelligent, he also does an excellent job defensively. I want him to play right forward to come back with his left foot. He has great quality. He can definitely play together with Soulé.”
The new manager also touched on the defence and emerging talents like Zalewski, indicating his plans to integrate various players into his system over the coming matches.
