Jose Mourinho suggested that he will be remaining with Roma for next season, indicating to fans ‘I’m staying here’. The Special One’s future at the club has been in doubt for much of the campaign, with reports linking him to both the Brazil and Portuguese national team jobs at one point, as well as the soon-to-be vacant PSG bench.
Rome based newspaper Il Messaggero now report that despite the rumours, Mourinho’s reactions after the 2-1 win over Spezia on Sunday evening seem to indicate he is staying with the Giallorossi.
The Portuguese coach made the ‘I’m staying here’ gesture when he addressed some fans in the Monte Mario Tribune who asked him from afar if he would stay on the Roma bench next season. It happened during the lap of the pitch which he made alone, immediately after embracing his players, where he looked at the fans in the eye and pointed with his finger at the ground.
The gesture seems to confirm his comments made after the defeat in the Europa League final against Sevilla, where he said: “I want to continue here for you, for everything I have given for you. I want to stay here. Just here.”
Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto reiterated Mourinho’s comments and indicated that “If you look at everything we and the coach have said, maybe it is clearer than it seems.”
