João Félix, AC Milan’s new attacking sensation, made his official press debut today, sharing his excitement about joining the Rossoneri and his aspirations to follow in the footsteps of club legend Kaká.
“I’ve been here for a week, so many things have happened and it’s all fantastic,” Félix began. “From the outside, Milan is a great club, and I expected its greatness—it truly is one of the biggest clubs in Europe.”
When asked about Kaká, Félix’s admiration was evident. “Kaká has always been my favorite player. I haven’t spoken to him recently, but I did in the past, including during an interview in the United States. I can’t compare myself to him, but I want to make history with Milan as he did.”
Addressing the potential of Milan’s attacking quartet, Félix was optimistic. “The four of us together on the field? Yes, it’s sustainable. Playing with four attackers doesn’t mean we can’t defend. We do our part in defense too, as we did against Empoli.”
Félix also spoke about his role under coach Sérgio Conceição. “I knew Conceição, I played against him and continued to follow Portuguese football even after I left Portugal. He didn’t tell me if I would play a lot or a little, he just said I would play in my role. That’s what convinced me. I like his way of playing; I see myself in his choices.”
On his future at Milan, Félix expressed his desire to stay beyond his loan. “For now, I’m on loan until June, we’ll see how it goes. At the moment, I’m really enjoying everything—the club, the people. Everyone has welcomed me well, I feel good here, and that’s important. I know things change quickly in football, but if there’s a possibility to stay at Milan, it would be nice. I would really like that.”
Félix also touched on his relationship with Rafael Leão and his decision to choose Milan over Inter. “Leão was the first to call me. He constantly wanted updates, asking if I had signed. We have a great relationship; I’m happy to have him next to me on the field.”
“Yes, my agent told me about Inter’s interest. But I had already started negotiating with Milan, and Milan was always my priority. I only had Milan in my mind.”
The Portuguese forward expressed awe at the San Siro atmosphere. “I’ve played at Benfica and Atlético Madrid, which have two passionate stadiums. But the atmosphere at San Siro is different; I didn’t expect such a welcome. I’ll do everything to deserve the support, always giving my best.”
Félix concluded by stating his objectives at Milan: “To help the team and win titles. You play to win titles; winning is what matters.”
