Following Italy’s 2-2 draw with Belgium in the Nations League match, head coach Luciano Spalletti shared his thoughts on the team’s performance.
Spalletti began by addressing the key moments that shaped the game: “There are incidents that change matches. After such an incident, you immediately concede a goal. Some games are determined by factors beyond the actual play. We still had the opportunity to play well in the second half, nonetheless.”
The Italian coach then focused on areas for improvement: “I would concentrate on how we lost possession at times. They have quality in open spaces. We didn’t concede many clear chances in front of Donnarumma, but we struggled with set pieces. They also had a bit of luck.”
Spalletti concluded by highlighting the positives: “The team’s quality was evident, as was our comfort on the field. We needed to confirm and demonstrate, even in this match, that we could control the game.”
