Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano believes his team showed character following their 3-2 win over Atalanta. La Viola found themselves behind early on after Teun Koopmeiners put the visitors ahead, but Giacomo Bonaventura and Lucas Martinez edged Fiorentina into a 2-1 lead. Ademola Lookman bought things back to 2-2, before a late Christiano Kouame goal secured the win.
Speaking with DAZN after the match, Italiano praised his sides’ character for the comeback, insisting that the players were keen to improve after the 4-0 hammering at the hands of Inter before the international break:
“Winning in a comeback doesn’t happen often, it makes us happy. We want to improve the aspect of not giving up the match, as happened in Milan. Today we did that, showing that we have character. A nice response after the 4-0 loss to Inter.”
