Isaksen: ‘I told my agent I didn’t want to leave Lazio’

Lazio’s Danish winger Gustav Isaksen has started the new season on a positive note, already netting a goal in his first three appearances for the Biancocelesti. This comes after a challenging previous season and a slow start to summer preparations, which had led to speculation about his future at the club.

Speaking from the Danish national team camp, where he is preparing for Nations League matches against Switzerland and Serbia, Isaksen reflected on his current situation at Lazio. He noted the improved atmosphere under the new manager, stating, “With the new coach, the situation is calmer.” He added, “It seems that with Baroni, the prospects are now longer-term.”

Addressing the summer transfer rumors, Isaksen confirmed that there had been interest from other clubs but emphasized his commitment to Lazio. He explained his decision to stay:

“It would have been a shame to have spent an entire year getting to know everything at Lazio only to go somewhere else and have to learn everything again. So, I told my agent that even if an exciting offer came in, I would stay with Lazio with 99% certainty.”

The young Danish talent expressed confidence in his potential at the Roman club, saying, “I feel I have the potential to become an important player for Lazio.”
