Simone Inzaghi was thrilled with Inter’s performance against Porto in the Champions League: ‘We’ve written a tiny piece of Inter history.’ The Nerazzurri travelled to Portugal with a 1-0 lead from the first leg at San Siro and successfully held Porto to a 0-0, guaranteeing their place in the quarter-finals of the competition.
Speaking with Sportmediaset (as quoted by FCInter1908) Inzaghi heralded an impressive performance and touched upon his achievements and victories with the club up to this point, saying he is not concerned about the rumours over his future at the club.
“We played an excellent game, the boys were great, a great group that played a great match against a difficult team to face.
“It was a great first half, in the second at the end we suffered. Credit to the this group that made a tiny piece of Inter history.
“My job being at risk? I celebrate and I am very calm, when the time comes I will speak, I owe it to myself and my family members, I know from whom the criticisms comes, I know which ones to listen to. We have done a great feat and written a piece of Inter history.
In the last twelve years, Inter have won one Scudetto, which then caused some financial problems for the team,” he continued.
“In the last eighteen months we’ve won three trophies, the Coppa Italia once and the Supercoppa Italiana twice.
“In the league we are second, we want to defend it. Inter is second, in the quarterfinals of the Champions League and in the semifinals of the Coppa Italia. On Sunday we face Juve, now let’s enjoy this feat.
“Inter deserved to reach the next round, because we wanted it and we fought for it with everything we had.”
