Following a dominant performance that resulted in a 2-0 victory for Inter, coach Simone Inzaghi shared his thoughts on their SuperCoppa victory over Atalanta.
Inzaghi began by praising his team’s performance, stating, “We were very good, and there was no match against a team of absolute value. We approached both halves like a great team. We played with great concentration and technique.” He noted that while they could have closed the game at 3-0, he was proud of his players: “I have to congratulate the boys.”
He also reflected on individual performances, saying, “We should have closed it a bit earlier, but I can’t criticize these guys. We had never created so much against Atalanta before. We played an excellent match, and I am very satisfied. With all these matches, it is never simple, but they showed great effort and determination.” Inzaghi acknowledged the challenges of playing every three to four days with travel but expressed pride in how his team exceeded expectations.
Discussing specific players, Inzaghi highlighted the contributions of his defenders and forwards. “We have these defenders who push forward and find themselves in these situations. Dumfries is a player who has always scored with Inter and the Netherlands. Lautaro? On a couple of occasions, he found Carnesecchi, who made two extraordinary saves. We depend a lot on our attackers; they are crucial beyond just scoring goals.”
As for Marcus Thuram’s availability for the final, Inzaghi stated, “I can’t say yet; he told me he felt tightness in his adductor, and we made the change immediately. We’ll see if he can be available for the final on Monday.”
Defender Yann Bisseck also commented on Dumfries’ performance, expressing his happiness for the player: “I am very happy for Dumfries; he scored two incredible goals. The important thing is that we won, and we need to do the same in the final.” He added that despite being champions of Italy and having won the cup last year, “all matches are different.”
Bisseck reflected on his own progress this season: “I am having a good season, but I still have to learn. We want to win every competition we play in. For now, we need to perform well on the pitch and then see what happens.”
