Inter Milan returned to winning ways after their derby defeat, securing a 3-2 victory against Udinese at the Bluenergy Stadium. Lautaro Martinez broke his scoring drought with a brace, netting his first goals of the season. After the match, coach Simone Inzaghi shared his thoughts with DAZN.
Inzaghi began by praising his team’s performance: “First and foremost, I want to say that the boys were fantastic. I’m very satisfied and I congratulated them because Udinese is a good team and Inter played a very good first half. The only flaw was not scoring a few more goals.”
He acknowledged some defensive lapses but remained positive about the overall display: “We should have scored more goals considering what we created, because then they entered our area twice and scored two goals. These need to be reviewed because we should have done better, but the eyes of the boys during the week spoke clearly: I had no doubts that we would play a good game.”
Addressing the goals conceded, Inzaghi said: “Does it worry me? Certainly, it’s an area for growth. We need to clear the area better, prevent crosses like Zemura’s, and occupy spaces in the box better.”
The coach was particularly pleased with Lautaro Martinez breaking his scoring drought: “He’s our captain, we all know what he represents for us. He shouldn’t have been discouraged before, he always worked in the best way. Today he was excellent.”
Inzaghi also commented on the team’s response to the derby defeat: “I saw the boys and the club accuse the defeat in the derby, but from defeats, you get up stronger.”
When asked about substituting Dimarco, Inzaghi joked: “There’s no problem. He had played 65 excellent minutes, then I brought in Carlos Augusto on that side. You only see Dimarco, but Arnautovic, Asllani, Dumfries were all involved and all wanted the victory.”
