Inzaghi: “There’s disappointment, we deserved to win…”

Start

Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi expressed his disappointment following his team’s 1-1 draw against Monza in Serie A. Despite the late equalizer, Inzaghi felt his side deserved more from the match.

“The team had a good approach. In the first 20 minutes, we created quite a lot and should have been able to break the deadlock. Last year it was a similar match, but we managed to score early,” Inzaghi said, highlighting the positive start from his team.

However, the manager acknowledged missed opportunities, stating, “Dimarco’s chance and Lautaro’s were important opportunities. Then we became slow in moving the ball and were less clear-headed when we had the chance to shoot, opting to pass to a teammate instead.”

Inzaghi praised the quality of Monza’s goal, describing it as a “wonder goal” by Dany Mota. He added, “I’m pleased with the reaction, we’re disappointed, but we move forward.”

When asked about the performances of Frattesi and Asllani, Inzaghi responded, “They both did well, they did what they had to do. I wouldn’t talk about individuals, everyone did what they were supposed to. We wanted the win and probably deserved it, but compliments to Monza, they defended well.”

Regarding the use of three forwards, Inzaghi explained, “We had already done it in Genoa, and they moved well today too. Correa was the only one who had stayed to work with us, and I had seen him doing well. It’s not easy to work with the attackers.”

The manager also addressed questions about Dimarco’s condition and new signing Zielinski. He assured that Dimarco only experienced cramps and there were no serious issues. On Zielinski, Inzaghi stated, “Zielinski is a midfielder, he has a lot of quality and will give us a lot. He’s a quality player who had a small problem in the summer, but he’s back working well and will contribute significantly. As a regista? No, in that role we already have Calha and Asllani, and I like him as a midfielder.”
