Following the 2-2 draw against Bologna in Serie A, Inter Milan’s head coach Simone Inzaghi expressed his dissatisfaction with the outcome, despite acknowledging the efforts of his players. The match, which took place at San Siro, saw Inter initially take a 2-1 lead before conceding an equalizer in the second half, halting their six-match winning streak.
Inzaghi began his post-match comments by stating, “We are not happy at all, but I have nothing to reproach my players. They gave everything against a strong opponent. Bologna is a valuable team.” He noted that while Inter had a strong performance overall, there were moments where they could have done better, particularly on Bologna’s goals that came from deflections. “We conceded too simple a goal on the second one,” he added.
The coach also addressed the ongoing transfer market and its impact on the team. “We always discuss the market with the club. They are attentive to our needs. We know our basic lines,” he explained. Inzaghi highlighted the current injury issues affecting squad rotation, mentioning that Bologna was able to make eight substitutions while he could only bring on two players. “We are trying to speed up recoveries,” he said, emphasizing the challenges of playing frequently.
Inzaghi touched on the post-match tension regarding officiating, stating, “With Vincenzo [the referee], we have a great relationship. There was some nervousness at the end of the match, and I was worried my players might face sanctions for protesting.” He acknowledged that mistakes can happen on both sides: “Just as we make mistakes, so can referees.”
The coach concluded by discussing individual performances, particularly that of Mehdi Taremi, who made a positive impact after coming off the bench. “Taremi entered very well and created two chances that could have been converted better,” Inzaghi noted. He also mentioned Benjamin Pavard’s improved condition and indicated he would consider starting him in the upcoming match against Empoli.
Inter defender Matteo Darmian echoed Inzaghi’s sentiments in his post-match remarks. “When you step onto the pitch, you always want to earn three points,” he said. Darmian highlighted the team’s reaction after conceding and emphasized their need to focus on future matches. “We need to think about what’s next; we’ve achieved 44 points so far, which is significant,” he added.
