On the eve of Inter’s crucial Champions League match against Sparta Praga, head coach Simone Inzaghi provided insights into the team’s current state and upcoming challenges during a press conference.
Inzaghi acknowledged the significance of the upcoming game, highlighting the physical nature of their opponent and the difficulty of playing at their stadium. He revealed some lineup uncertainties, noting that less than 48 hours had passed since their previous match against Empoli.
Regarding defender Alessandro Acerbi, Inzaghi confirmed he would miss the upcoming match against Lecce. “Acerbi seemed fine but couldn’t push to his maximum, so we didn’t want to force him,” Inzaghi explained. Despite the absence, he remained confident in the squad’s depth, stating emphatically that he wouldn’t exchange his current players “for anyone in the world.”
Reflecting on his past experiences playing at Sparta Praga, Inzaghi shared nostalgic memories, including scoring two goals and making an assist during his playing career. He expressed hope that his coaching experience would create more positive memories.
When discussing the team’s approach, Inzaghi emphasized the importance of focusing on the collective rather than individual narratives. “We must continue on this path to be protagonists and defend the championship we have on our chest,” he stated.
Addressing rumors surrounding Nicolò Frattesi, Inzaghi praised the player’s recent training performances. “Frattesi trained exceptionally well yesterday and today. He’s comfortable and enjoys being part of the group,” Inzaghi said, indicating he was considering starting him or using him as a substitute.
Regarding Canadian player Buchanan, Inzaghi revealed he had spoken with all players about their satisfaction levels. “No one, including Buchanan, has expressed a desire to change,” he noted, expressing trust in the player’s potential despite a recent significant injury.
