Inter’s setback: Pavard sidelined with thigh Injury

Start

Inter Milan have been dealt a significant blow as defender Benjamin Pavard is set for an extended period on the sidelines. The French international underwent medical examinations today, confirming the severity of the injury to his left thigh that he sustained during Tuesday’s Champions League match against RB Leipzig.

Calciomercato report how Pavard suffered the injury in the closing minutes of the first half against Leipzig when he stretched to challenge Openda. His leg remained planted in the ground during the extension, leading to immediate medical intervention and his substitution with Bisseck. Unfortunately, the player couldn’t avoid the injury in time.

The club released an official statement: “Benjamin Pavard underwent clinical and instrumental examinations this morning at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano. The Nerazzurri defender has a strain in the biceps femoris of his left thigh. His condition will be re-evaluated next week.”

Initial reports suggest that Pavard will be out for at least two weeks, possibly three to ensure a full recovery. He will definitely miss the upcoming match against Fiorentina and the game against Parma on December 6. While further evaluations are pending, it’s likely that Pavard will also be unavailable for two crucial fixtures: the final Champions League group stage match against Bayer Leverkusen on December 10 and the Serie A clash with Lazio on December 16, 2024.

Inter hope to have Pavard back for their Coppa Italia debut against Udinese on December 19, 2024, at San Siro. However, a more realistic target for his return might be the home game against Como on December 23, 2024, just before the Christmas break.
