Inter’s mixed emotions during International break: Concerns for Thuram, optimism for Barella

Start

Inter Milan approach the international break with mixed feelings. On one hand, there’s positivity as some players in Simone Inzaghi’s squad needed a forced “rest” or at least a chance to ease the pressure of a packed schedule that has seen and will continue to see matches every three days until at least January. On the other hand, there’s significant concern because, as often happens, replacing the routine at Appiano with travel and different coaches can lead to new and uncontrollable issues.

Calciomercato report that despite reassuring test results following the brutal tackle by Guillermo Maripan (who was rightfully sent off) in the match against Torino, there remains some apprehension about Marcus Thuram. The French striker managed to score a hat-trick while playing through pain, but concerns persist not so much about his health but about his management. The recovery process will have to be managed away from Pinetina as Thuram has joined the French national team for two important Nations League matches.

In contrast, there’s positive news regarding Tajon Buchanan and especially Nicolò Barella, both of whom are progressing well towards reintegration with the group. A particularly encouraging note was recorded yesterday for the Italian midfielder. Despite being given a day off, as is customary during these breaks, the former Cagliari player showed up at Appiano Gentile to train and vigorously continue his recovery process from the muscle injury sustained during the derby loss against Milan.
