Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has been questioned by police as part of the ongoing “Double Curva” investigation into ultras groups associated with Inter and AC Milan. The probe, coordinated by the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Anti-Mafia District Directorate, led to the arrest of 19 ultras from both clubs on September 30, 2024.
Calciomercato report how Calhanoglu admitted to meeting with Curva Nord leaders Marco Ferdico and Antonio Bellocco, but denied ever going out with them and their families, contrary to claims made in intercepted conversations. The Turkish international emphasized to investigators that the club had advised him against having contact with organized fan groups.
According to La Stampa, Calhanoglu’s most significant statement was: “I saw the ultras, but the club had told me not to do so.”
The midfielder explained that he chose to meet Ferdico and Bellocco “out of gratitude” after the Curva had dedicated a banner of solidarity following the earthquake in Turkey in February 2023. In return, he confirmed donating some of his game jerseys for charitable initiatives “for children in hospitals.”
Regarding his acquaintance with Curva Nord leaders, particularly the late Antonio Bellocco, Calhanoglu stated that he only learned “who Bellocco really was after seeing his photograph following news of his murder.” However, he also affirmed that he had “never received pressure” from them.
