Inter are weighing up their options for the coming weeks, following an injury scare involving Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer. The shot-stopper started between the posts in a recent friendly match between Denmark and Switzerland, but was forced off the field due to injury. At the 37th minute mark, he suffered an ankle injury, prompting his substitution.
Calciomercato report that Sommer’s condition will be assessed in the coming hours by the Swiss national team’s medical staff to determine the extent of the injury and the recovery time required.
With Sommer sidelined, Inter’s natural replacement in goal is Emil Audero, who arrived in the summer from Sampdoria on loan with an option to buy. So far, Audero has played only one league match, on February 25th against Lecce, where Inter secured a 4-0 victory with Audero keeping a clean sheet.
Audero also made his Champions League debut for Inter against Benfica at Da Luz in Lisbon in late November, during the group stage, in a match that ended in a 3-3 draw. His third appearance of the season was in the Coppa Italia round of 16 against Bologna, which ended in a 2-1 extra-time victory for Bologna.
