Inter want to avoid Dybala mistake with Thuram

Start

Inter want to sign Borussia Mönchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram and are keen to avoid the mistakes they made with the Paolo Dybala deal. The Nerazzurri are being linked with a move for the Frenchman who has just six months left on his contract with the Bundesliga side and want to beat numerous competitors by agreeing a deal in January.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Inter have learned from past mistakes when they were close to completing a move for Dybala but club President Steven Zhang’s hesitancy cost them the player, who ended up at Roma. At the time, it was reported that coach Simone Inzaghi was keen to not sideline Joaquin Correa which caused tensions with CEO Beppe Marotta and ultimately led La Joya to look elsewhere.

Gazzetta suggest that Inter don’t want to have the same regrets this time round with Thuram and are aware that Bayern Munich are also keen to sign him for free in June 2023.

With that in mind, Inter are expected to sacrifice one forward in order to free up a spot for Thuram, which is likely to be Correa. There are also doubts over Romelu Lukaku’s future at the club following his less than impressive return to Milan. The situation is expected to be reviewed by the Nerazzurri as they look to bring stability to their forward line by trimming the excess ahead of a potential move for the French international.
