Inter are expected to meet with the agents of Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku to discuss the possibility of a return to the club. The 29-year-old left the Nerazzurri last summer to return to the Blues, but has spent much of the season sidelined through injury as well as not featuring in coach Tomas Tuchel’s plans.
Il Corriere dello Sport, Il Giornale and a number of others report that the player is ‘desperately’ trying to return to Inter this summer and a meeting has been agreed between his agent and Inter to discuss the potential for a move back to Italy.
Il Giornale suggest that the move can only take place if Inter choose to sell Lautaro Martinez to help raise funds for the operation. For his part, Lukaku would need to take a significant cut in salary to make the move happen and his switch may initially have to be on loan before making it permanent.
The Belgian striker spent two seasons with Inter, making 95 appearances and scoring 64 goals to help them to their first Serie A title in over 10 years.
