Inter Target Kiwior: Contacts Made with Arsenal

Start

Inter have set its sights on strengthening their defensive line, with Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior emerging as a prime target. The Italian club is looking to fill the void left by Tajon Buchanan’s injury and has identified specific criteria for their new defensive recruit.

Calciomercato report how Inter’s management is prioritizing young, resalable players over experienced free agents like Mario Hermoso. The ideal candidate would be a left-footed center-back capable of alternating with Alessandro Bastoni in their established three-man defense. The club is seeking a player with a modest salary and a transfer fee that aligns with their budget constraints.

Kiwior, a 24-year-old Polish defender, fits Inter’s profile perfectly. Having spent a year and a half with Spezia in Serie A before his €20 million move to Arsenal in January 2023, Kiwior is familiar with Italian football and the three-at-the-back system. Despite his potential, he has struggled to secure a regular starting position under Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.

According to Sportitalia, Inter has already initiated contact with Arsenal to explore the possibility of a loan deal with an option to buy, which could become an obligation under certain conditions. However, Arsenal has not yet shown openness to this transfer structure.

Inter face competition for Kiwior’s signature from several Serie A rivals. Juventus, having missed out on Riccardo Calafiori, is in the market for a left-footed center-back. Milan, who considered Kiwior in January, and Napoli, under new management, are also monitoring the situation. However, no concrete offers have been made by these clubs yet.
