Inter struggling to agree Bastoni renewal

Start

Inter are struggling in their negotiations to extend Alessandro Bastoni’s contract and are worried about losing him for free. The Italy international has been at the heart of the Nerazzurri’s defence since joining them from Atalanta in 2019, making 142 appearances for the club over four seasons.

Tuttosport now report that with only 18 months left until the defender’s contract expires, Inter have been in talks with the players representatives to agree a new deal in order to avoid a repeat of the Milan Skriniar situation. The Slovakian is set to join PSG for free in the summer, snubbing the Nerazzurri’s offer of an improved contract despite talks having taken place since last June.

Tuttosport claim that talks between Bastoni and Inter have also hit a snag and are on hold for the moment. Bastoni currently earns €2.8m per year, with add-ons that could take the total to €4m, and the Nerazzurri are prepared to offer him €4.5m plus bonuses in a new contract.

Bastoni is reportedly holding out for at least €6m a year with reports linking Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur with the 23-year-old.
