Inter provide injury updates on Sommer and De Vrij

Start

Inter have provided updates on the injuries of Yann Sommer and Stefan De Vrij, both of whom sustained injuries while representing their respective national teams.

Sommer, the Swiss goalkeeper, has been diagnosed with a sprained right ankle, while Stefan De Vrij, the Dutch defender, has suffered a strain in the adductor longus muscle of his right thigh.

Following medical examinations conducted at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano, Inter stated:

“Yann Sommer and Stefan De Vrij underwent medical tests this morning at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano.

They have revealed that the Swiss goalkeeper has a sprain to the right ankle sprain, which will be assessed day by day for The Swiss goalkeepr.

Instead, the Dutch defender will be re-assessed in a few days’ time following a strain in the adductor longus muscle in the right thigh.”

Although both players are expected to miss Inter’s upcoming match against Empoli, there is a possibility that Sommer may be available for selection against Empoli at San Siro on Monday 1 April.  Meanwhile, De Vrij is likely to sit out the Empoli game but could return for matches against Udinese or Cagliari.

Inzaghi’s defensive options may be limited against Empoli if Francesco Acerbi is found guilty of racist abuse towards Napoli’s Juan Jesus. The FIGC investigation into the matter has concluded, and the sports judge is expected to deliver his verdict this week.
