Inter Milan is approaching the final stages of securing their much-anticipated defensive reinforcement to replace the injured Tajon Buchanan. The club has been seeking a left-footed center-back to alternate with Alessandro Bastoni, and after exploring various options, they have focused their efforts on Tomas Palacios.
Calciomercto report that officials from Independiente Rivadavia arrived in Italy yesterday and, after acclimating to Milan, met with Inter’s management at the club’s headquarters on Viale della Liberazione this afternoon. Sporting Director Sebastian Peratta and Agustin Vila, son of President Daniel Vila, were accompanied by intermediary Marcelo Simonian and lawyer Luca Peluso.
Upon leaving the meeting, Simonian commented, “It went well, the meeting was positive.” The negotiation is at an advanced stage, with Inter hoping to bring the player to Italy early next week for medical examinations and contract signing.
The contractual situation of the 21-year-old defender was resolved earlier this week when Independiente Rivadavia exercised their option to purchase Palacios’ rights from Talleres for €4 million, allowing them to negotiate directly with Inter as the sole party.
Palacios has already given his approval to join Inter, and now the clubs must agree on the transfer fee. Inter’s offer is expected to exceed the €4 million paid by Independiente Rivadavia, with CEO Marotta and Sporting Director Ausilio proposing €6.5 million plus bonuses.
