Inter Milan’s Defensive Dilemma: Bisseck’s Return and Palacios’ Potential Loan

Start

Inter Milan finds themselves navigating a complex defensive situation as they approach the business end of the season. The Nerazzurri are dealing with injury concerns and potential transfer moves that could reshape their backline in the coming weeks.

Calciomercato report how Yann Bisseck, the young German defender, has recovered from his injury sustained during the Supercoppa derby loss against AC Milan in Saudi Arabia. The 23-year-old is expected to be available for selection, at least for the bench, in Inter’s upcoming away fixture against Lecce. Bisseck’s versatility could prove crucial for manager Simone Inzaghi, who may deploy him in the centre of the three-man defence to provide rest for Stefan de Vrij, especially with Francesco Acerbi still sidelined.

Acerbi, who turns 37 next month, continues to struggle with fitness issues that have kept him out of action for the last 14 matches since suffering a muscular injury in Verona on November 23. The veteran defender is still training separately, along with teammates Hakan Calhanoglu and Joaquin Correa.

Meanwhile, Monza’s interest in Inter’s young Argentine defender Tomas Palacios has emerged as an intriguing subplot in the transfer market. Adriano Galliani, Monza’s CEO, has requested Palacios on loan until the end of the season. The 21-year-old, who joined Inter last summer for €6.5 million plus bonuses, has seen limited action this season, accumulating only 26 minutes across two Serie A appearances and one Coppa Italia match.

Inter’s current stance is to avoid immediate moves in the defensive transfer market. However, if Tajon Buchanan, who has attracted interest from Ajax, Roma, and Torino, were to depart, the club might consider bringing in another wide player. In this scenario, Roma’s Polish international Nicola Zalewski, born in 2002, is a name to watch.

Looking towards the future, Inter’s management is actively working to strengthen the midfield. The club is in negotiations for Croatian talent Petar Sucic from Dinamo Zagreb and Argentine prospect Tomas Perez from Newell’s Old Boys. Additionally, Inter has all but finalized the acquisition of Montenegrin youngster Andrija Vukoje from Grbalj.
