Inter Milan’s Barella sidelined with thigh Injury: Recovery timeline and Impact

Start

Inter Milan midfielder Nicolò Barella has been ruled out of action due to a thigh injury, dealing a blow to the Nerazzurri’s upcoming fixtures. The Italian international was substituted in the 74th minute of Inter’s recent derby defeat against AC Milan due to muscular discomfort, and subsequent medical examinations have revealed the extent of his injury.

Barella underwent tests at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano, which confirmed a strain to the rectus femoris muscle in his right thigh. As a result, the midfielder will be sidelined for at least the next three matches, including the upcoming Serie A clash against Udinese on Saturday.

The club has announced that Barella’s condition will be re-evaluated next week. However, it is expected that he will miss Inter’s Champions League fixture against Red Star Belgrade and the following Serie A match against Torino. The target for his return is tentatively set for the game against Roma on October 20th, following the international break.

Barella’s absence is a significant setback for Inter Milan, as he has been a key player in Simone Inzaghi’s midfield. The 27-year-old’s energy, creativity, and defensive work rate have been crucial to the team’s performances this season.

Inter will now need to adjust their midfield composition for the upcoming matches. Coach Inzaghi may turn to players like Davide Frattesi, Kristjan Asllani, or Piotr Zielinski to fill the void left by Barella’s absence.
