Inter Milan’s new signing Mehdi Taremi has encountered a setback due to a muscular injury sustained during training. The Iranian striker, who joined the club on a free transfer, is expected to be sidelined for approximately two weeks.
According to Calciomercato, Taremi will miss the upcoming friendly match against Pisa scheduled for Friday, August 2nd, at the Arena Garibaldi. The match, set to kick off at 19:30, will see the Inzaghi brothers, Simone and Filippo, facing each other from opposing benches. Taremi had already skipped a practice match on Wednesday as a precautionary measure and did not train the following day due to the same muscular discomfort.
Despite this setback, Taremi had been impressing in his first pre-season with Inter. In the three matches played this summer, he had scored 5 goals, confirming his reputation as a reliable and prolific striker. In his previous two years with Porto, he had netted 57 goals and provided 31 assists.
Inter Milan officially announced Taremi’s injury through a statement, revealing that the player underwent an MRI at the Humanitas Clinical Institute in Rozzano. The examination showed a muscular strain in the biceps femoris of his left thigh. His condition will be reassessed next week.
Initial evaluations suggest that Taremi will be out for about 10-15 days. He is expected to miss Inter’s Serie A opener against Genoa but should be available for the second round match against Lecce, scheduled for August 24th.
