Inter Milan are considering a January transfer market move to bolster their defence, according to reports from Tuttosport. The Nerazzurri’s interest in strengthening their backline stems from Francesco Acerbi’s recent fitness concerns and the limited involvement of Tomas Palacios in the team’s rotation so far this season.
The player identified by Inter’s sporting directors Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio is Jaka Bijol, a 24-year-old defender currently playing for Udinese. This potential move would anticipate a likely necessary operation in the upcoming summer, given that Stefan de Vrij’s contract expires in June 2025, and Acerbi’s deal, while running until 2026, includes an option for Inter to terminate it in June 2025.
Bijol, who has been in Italy since 2022 and has made 71 appearances for Udinese, scoring 4 goals, is being considered for a loan deal with an obligation to buy. The proposed transfer could also involve a straight loan for Palacios to Udinese, where the young player might find more opportunities for playing time and adapt to Italian football.
