Inter Milan Eye Roma’s Zalewski Amidst Competition from De Zerbi

Start

Inter Milan are looking to bolster their squad following the departures of Tomás Palacios to Monza and Tajon Buchanan’s imminent move to Villarreal. The club’s focus has shifted to strengthening their wide positions rather than central defence, still hoping for Acerbi’s recovery.

Calciomercato report that the primary target for Inter is Nicola Zalewski from Roma, a name that has gradually gained traction. Initially proposed by Roma as part of a deal for Davide Frattesi, Inter’s interest has now evolved towards a potential loan move. However, the situation is complicated by Zalewski’s contract, which expires in June, and his initial reluctance to renew with Roma.

Marseille have recently shown interest in Zalewski, but Roma’s high asking price has been a deterrent. Inter believes they can convince Zalewski to accept a renewal offer from Roma and then secure him on loan. The Nerazzurri plan to use the funds saved from Buchanan’s exit to facilitate this deal.

The final decision rests with Zalewski, who is attracted by the prospect of revitalizing his career at Inter but less enthusiastic about extending his contract with Roma. Should the Zalewski deal fall through, Inter is prepared to pursue an experienced Serie A player, with former Inter player Cristiano Biraghi (born 1992) emerging as a potential alternative. Biraghi, currently at odds with Fiorentina, could provide the experience and familiarity with Italian football that Inter seeks.
